The typical DoD qualification/certification approach for structural materials is often referred to as the qualification pyramid and lays out the scope of getting critical components qualified onto major defense acquisition systems. The cost is hundreds of millions of dollars and can take up to 10-15 years. 3D Systems and government partners will discuss new process modeling and monitoring tools that will help shorten the qualification and certification cycle. Investments in such advanced developments will enable flaw detection, real-time feedback control, and rapid qualification.
