In this study, Ti-6Al-4V parts fabricated by the powder-bed EBAMprocess were measured and analyzed in pore sizes and the size distribution. Samples from the build parts were prepared, both the build and side surfaces, using conventional metallographic techniques for the porosity investigation. Well-polished surfaces were further examined using an optical microscope, and digital images (50X), around 10 for each case, were acquired and analyzed using image processing software to measure the pore sizes and pore populations and evaluate the porosity bases on the measure pore areas. Parts from different process settings, speed function (SF) index from 20 to 65, were investigated.
