Vice President, Defense Alliances & Partnerships
Neal Orringer is vice president for alliances and partnerships at 3D Systems. In this capacity he leads the company’s portfolio of government-sponsored research and development activities. Additionally, he manages a team of engineers embedded at the Pennsylvania State University Center for Innovative Materials Processing through Direct Digital Deposition and the Army Research Laboratory, where he also serves as a visiting researcher.
Previously, Mr. Orringer served in key positions in the Obama administration and U.S. Senate, focused on manufacturing business and technology. Most recently he supported the White House Office of Manufacturing Policy, as part of the Secretary of Commerce’s core policy team. He also served at the Department of Defense as director of manufacturing, overseeing Manufacturing Technology, Defense Production Act, industrial base sustainment programs.
In 2012, he was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Exceptional Civilian Service Medal for his pioneering management and outstanding record of achievement. Mr. Orringer led President Obama’s effort to pilot the first of several institutes among the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation. In 2013, Mr. Orringer was awarded the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence.
