National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM)
Ralph L. Resnick, FSME, is president and executive director of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining and founding director of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, now known as America Makes. Resnick joined NCDMM in September 2008 as vice president, chief technology officer with more than 35 years of manufacturing experience. He became president and executive director in May 2011, leading the NCDMM to winning the competitive NAMII contract. Prior to joining NCDMM, Resnick served as chief technology officer for both Ex One Corp. and Extrude Hone where he helped establish both as leaders in advanced manufacturing. Resnick holds several patents in manufacturing processes and metrology. Currently, he serves on the boards of the Louisiana Center for Manufacturing Sciences; NIST Smart Machining Consortium; Navy Metalworking Center’s Industry Advisory Board; MTConnect® Institute; DoD’s JDMTP Metals Subpanel; and CIRP (International Institution for Production Engineering Research). Resnick was elected to the SME College of Fellows in 2005 and served as chair of SME’s International Awards & Recognition Committee from 2011-13. In 2011, he received the NAMRI/SME Outstanding Lifetime Service Award. He has been an SME member since 1992.
