Reuters (11/14) reports, “Bombardier Inc expects two recently-announced orders for its CSeries jets to be finalized by the end of 2017, Commercial Aircraft President Fred Cromer told reporters by phone from Dubai.” It adds, “Earlier in the day, EgyptAir and Bombardier announced a letter of intent for 12 firm Bombardier CS300s jets, valued at $1.1 billion, according to a statement by the Canadian plane and train maker.” CNBC (11/14, Reid) reports, “EgyptAir chief executive Safwat Musallam said he expected the deal to cement fresh business for Bombardier,” saying, “This deal will open a big market for Bombardier in the Middle East. Everyone knows Egypt is the entrance to the region.” The company “predicts Middle East-based orders will account for around 450 airplanes in the 60-to-150 seat category over the next 20 years.” Fox Business (11/14) quotes Musallam saying, “We selected the C Series aircraft because its excellent range will allow us to best serve domestic and regional destinations, including neighboring Arab cities, the Middle East as well as several European destinations.”
