The Digital T's: Threads, Twins, Technology, and Transformation

The reality of the digital thread and digital twins was created more than 20 years ago as the industry was developing the use of 3D models to design and build aircraft.  The digital thread allowed the direct consumption of the 3D data by downstream functions such as manufacturing, suppliers, and sustainment and enabled many advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotics, metrology, additive, and augmented reality.  The digital data is now sparking the next industrial revolution, the revolution of data where artificial intelligence will impact nearly every aspect of every industry providing improved, automated access to data and predictive analytics.
